Soldiers Saddle 2020
Anzac Day Soldiers Saddle Race Meeting
The Anzac Day ‘Soldiers Saddle’ is truly a Bathurst tradition and each year The Club brings the community together to provide the people of Bathurst and surrounds not only an entertaining seven race day programme, but one to remember our history, traditions and honour the Anzac Spirit.
In addition to having an exciting day at the races, we have live music, entertainment and Fashions on the Field. The day commemorates such an important day in our country’s history with Anzac official ceremonies, and the playing of 2UP.
We begin our day by recognising and remembering all Australian soldiers who served and died in war. We commence with an official ceremony from the RSL and mark a minute of silence for our Anzacs with Revile being played by the RSL bugler. Many people on the day have never attended a formal Anzac Ceremony, or Dawn Service and are deeply moved and appreciate the opportunity to experience such an event. Patrons take moments throughout the day, whether it be brief or timely, to reflect upon those who gave their lives for our freedom.
Before the feature race, the often 5,000 strong crowd accompany a singer on the podium to join them to sing the Australian National Anthem, which is truly embraced and enjoyed by all.
Come and experience an Anzac Day with us, it’s truly a unique and entertaining race day!
